serial #8986h, 9mm, 4" barrel with a good bore showing moderate pitting and oxidation along its length with evident rifling. The barrel and frame retain about 70-75% original thinning blue, the loss due to overall fading and operational wear; there is also moderate pitting at the top of the backstrap and rear of the frame and scratches along the left side frame and sideplate. The receiver appears to have been reblued. The toggle is marked with an "S/42" assembly code, the chamber is dated 1938 and all of the visibly numbered parts are matching including the grooved firing pin. The checkered walnut grips rate near excellent with a few chipped points, they are stamp-numbered to the gun on their interior and the left grip fits slightly loose. Included is a single gray-bodied, aluminum-based magazine which has had the number cleaned off, but has an "s" and a "+" on the base; the body is marked "fxo", "P.08" and two "SE-37" acceptance stamps which rates very good to near excellent overall with minor pitting throughout.
