serial #114283, 45 ACP, 5" Colt barrel with a frosted bore. The pistol retains about 50% original blue which is present on the frame. The slide has been lightly cleaned to pewter with the grip frame worn to gunmetal gray. The metal surfaces have scattered light pitting, a few minor oxidation stains, assembly marks and scratches. The double diamond checkered walnut factory grips rate good with light diamond point wear, a few dents and dings plus a small chip missing around the left panel's lower screw. The flaming ordnance bomb on the frame and slide are still crisp as are the other markings with the markings on the cleaned areas of the slide slightly softened. All appropriate parts have the small Springfield Armory "s" marking and the pistol includes a Scovill Manufacturing marked magazine with welded base. A fine example of a Springfield 1911 for the upstart collector. (88569-13) {C&R} [Calhoun L.H. Howard Collection] (2000/4000) SOLD FOR $2,300.00
