serial #247089, 45 ACP, 5" Colt barrel with a lightly frosted bore. This 1918 made pistol retains about 90% original blue with the frontstrap worn to brown, thinning finish on the flat mainspring housing, high edge wear, areas starting to thin to pewter and other handling marks. The double diamond walnut factory grips rate near excellent with a few diamond points lightly compressed. Lt. Col. John M. Gilbert's inspection mark on the frame remains crisp as do the other factory markings. The recoil spring guide is the early style with long sharp tips but all other parts appear to remain correct to period of manufacture. The pistol includes a single unmarked two-tone factory magazine with pinned base. This Government Model has seen modest use over the years and is a viable addition to any collection.
