serial #5944110, 30-06, 24" 10-55 dated National Match barrel with proper "T" stamping meaning "targeted" and a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain 95-97% arsenal parkerized finish with some light silvering and light fading. The walnut stock rates very good plus with some added oil finish, a crisp circled "P" firing proof, a crisp "DoD" Eagle cartouche, scattered dings and handling marks. The windage knob is of International Harvester manufacture but the remaining parts are of Springfield Armory manufacture with the correct drawing numbers. The barrel is marked "NM" at the left front and it is the only "NM" marked part as-is correct for the Type 1 National Match rifles. The elevation knob is currently not working properly but this is likely an easy fix. This rifle includes three Army shipping documents, one from the Letterkenny Army Depot and two from the Raritan Arsenal, the latter of which lists this gun by serial number. The rifle was listed as being sold to an Alex Horozan of Valley Stream, New York in 1956. A further letter from Raritan Arsenal is included that amusingly is in regard to a refund for $1.50 in postage. Also included are a Numrich Importing receipt for this rifle from 2013 and a GI canvas sling. Unaltered legitimate Type 1 National Match Garands are seldom encountered and highly coveted by American military collectors. This rifle will make a great addition to the most advanced U.S. military collection. (208706-3) {C&R} (4000/6000) SOLD FOR $2,875.00
