serial #3678f, 9mm, 8" barrel with a good bore showing light to moderate oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this 1917-dated pistol retain about 60-65% arsenal blue mostly toning to a dark gray patina along the barrel and showing some high edge wear, scattered light oxidation staining, freckling and spots of light pinprick pitting scattered throughout. The small parts have been refreshed at some point to a dark gold color and show a few spots of old pinprick pitting. The magazine release spring, sear spring and toggle train pins still retain some very nice vibrant fire blue. The checkered walnut grips are stamp-numbered to the gun and remain in about very good condition as lightly refinished long ago with a 3/4" crack at the toe of the right panel, some further light dings and handling marks. The gun is equipped with normal front sight and finely adjustable tangent sight that is numbered "978". The remaining serialized parts are matching including the un-grooved firing pin and the frontstrap is unit-marked "R.J.R.72.5.25.". One bright-bodied wood base magazine is included. The wood base appears to have been lightly refinished with an old chip on the left side and the number is hard to read but ends in "660g". A very good artillery Luger with the added bonus of a unit marking. (138050-393) {C&R} (1500/2000) SOLD FOR $1,955.00
