46. W.J. Jeffery Smallbore Boxlock Double Gun

serial #34287, 28 ga., 26" barrels with bright excellent bores choked Improved cylinder in each. This is a nice little Boxlock double. The gun was originally nitro proofed with 2 1/2" chambers but was subsequently reproofed at 70mm and 950 BAR. The minimum wall thicknesses of the barrels is .038" left and .033" right. The top rib of barrels is engraved "W.J. JEFFERY & CO. LTD. 9 GOLDEN SQUARE. REGENT ST. LONDON. W.I.". The action features scroll engraving in about 50% coverage with "W.J. JEFFERY & CO. LTD" in riband on either side of action. The barrels retain 95% evenly thinning beautiful blue finish overall. The action retains 90% plus strong color case-hardened finish with the bottom plate and triggerguard showing 97% quality blue. The gun features a checkered straight grip buttstock and splinter forend, the forend is original while the highly figured buttstock is a very finely crafted replacement. The dimensions are nice with a 14 3/4" length of pull over a checkered butt and drops of 1 1/2" and 2 1/4". She weighs in at a bit over 4 3/4 lbs. This little double is tight and has lots of life left. A neat smallbore London double gun. (18663-2) {C&R} (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $3,450.00
