serial #WW0384, 30-06, 24" barrel with an excellent bore. Made with mostly unissued GI parts, the metal surfaces have a polished blue finish with about 99% remaining. The receiver is more plum colored and there is some light edge wear on the bearing surfaces. The sights, trigger, safety and sling swivels are all finished in 24 k gold. The receiver has four gold filled stars on the right side and the operating rod has a federal eagle and "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE M1 GARAND" also in gold. The high gloss finished walnut stocks rate excellent, the buttstock has an inlaid medallion which reads "IN HONOR OF WORLD WAR II VICTORY / IN LASTING MEMORY OF THOSE WHO SERVED" and has "U.S." in center. The stocks have a few very light handling marks. A military style brown leather sling is attached. Rifle is housed in its original factory box and includes a single en-bloc stripper clip and documents from the American Historical Foundation, including the care guide, certificate of authenticity and a hard bound copy of the U.S. Army FM-25 field and service guide. A near as-new-in-box example of these limited edition commemorative rifles, only 2500 were produced in this series. A lovely rifle, bearing tribute to the Greatest Generation and worthy of a prominent display. (48642-11) {MODERN} (1200/1800) SOLD FOR $977.50
