.58 Cal, 33" 7-groove barrel with an excellent bore that shows some scattered freckling and light oxidation. The barrel retains 90% original blue with light fading to brown along its surface. The hammer and lockplate retain about 90% original case colors with some light freckling and fading to brown most visible on the hammer. The brass parts remain partially bright with some scattered light to moderate oxidation staining. The walnut stock rates near excellent with two crisp inspector's cartouches, a couple small chips in the ramrod channel, the expected light dings and handling marks that come with the years. Both the barrel and lockplate are dated 1863, the left side of the barrel is marked "STEEL" and "H.S.T.". The hammer appears to function well, there is a spare nipple in the patchbox and a correct ramrod is present. A lovely example of these Remington Zouave rifles that will make a great addition to any marital arms collection. (208624-20) {ANTIQUE} (2500/3500) SOLD FOR $2,645.00
