serial #265614, 30 WCF, 26" octagon barrel with an about very good bore showing some darkness and light oxidation in the grooves and strong rifling throughout. The barrel and full-length magazine tube retain about 85% original blue with high edge wear, top of barrel toning to gray-brown patina, scattered freckling, light oxidation staining, a couple tiny pinprick pits and a small ding about half way down the magazine tube. The action has mostly worn to a gray patina and gunmetal with perhaps 20% original bright blue lurking about on the sides of frame and the more protected areas underneath, some spots of old light pitting and light oxidation staining. The top of the bolt retains nearly 90% original bright blue with some thinning to gray and light freckling. The lever is mostly toned to gray, the hammer retains some faint case-hardened colors and the loading gate shows some very nice strong fire blue. The smooth straight grip walnut buttstock and forend remain in very good condition with mostly worn finish, a thin 1/4" crack at the upper tang, light dings and handling marks. The rifle is fitted with a crescent buttplate and sighted with a silver blade front and flip-up express rear sights graduated for 50, 100 and 200 yards. Overall this rifle has seen some honest use but remains a very nice example from the early 1900s. (138692-11) {C&R} (700/900) SOLD FOR $920.00
