serial #328021, 32-40, 26" round barrel with a mostly bright very good bore showing a little light oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this rifle retain about 88% original blue with some moderate freckling and light oxidation staining along the barrel, some pinprick pitting and scattered scratches. The nosecap is mostly a brown-gray patina with light oxidation staining while the action shows light pitting throughout with areas worn to gunmetal and some areas of strong bright blue especially at the base of the action. The loading gate retains some nice hints of fire blue and the top of the bolt retains about 70% original blue with light pitting at the rear. The lever and hammer have mostly toned to gray patina with light oxidation staining and some strong case-hardened colors in the more protected areas. A number of the screw heads show some light slot damage and the crescent buttplate has mostly toned to gray with scattered light pitting and oxidation staining. The smooth straight grip walnut buttstock and forend remain in good overall condition as lightly refinished long ago with some areas of dark oil soaking scattered throughout the butt, a tiny hairline crack forming at the upper tang, flaking and worn finish , light scratches and handling marks. The rifle is sighted with semi-buckhorn rear and Lyman bead front sight. The bead insert is missing and the rear sight is un-marked and rather crude in construction. Overall a well-used rifle that still seems to function quite well and would probably be a fine shooter. (138487-37) {C&R} (700/900) SOLD FOR $747.50
