serial #107859, 22 LR, 24" round barrel with a good to near very good bore which shows strong rifling but with light pitting its full length and a small ring 2/3 the way down its length. The barrel retains perhaps 92-95% original blue, the loss is due primarily to even fading and muzzle wear, also showing light dings and handling marks from the years; the takedown boss has faded primarily to a dark gray-blue patina. The low wall frame retains a similar amount of original blue, both frame flats flaking to plum, also with some sparsely scattered light oxidation staining. The breechblock retains excellent color case-hardening while the lever is primarily a silver and pewter case-hardened patina. The straight grip walnut buttstock rates very good with much original varnish and the expected overall dings and handling marks that come from the years, the forend is similar showing perhaps a bit more wear and flaking of varnish. The rifle features its original front blade sight with the rear slot blanked. The gun has been drilled and tapped professionally during the period of use for steel target blocks which currently support a Winchester B-4 telescopic sight with crosshair reticle and slightly cloudy optics. The scope itself rates very good showing light blue loss and a small ding to the tube two thirds the way down its length. An attractive low wall rifle overall with nice period optics that still may spin a bullet very well. (38586-1) {C&R} (700/900) SOLD FOR $2,070.00
