642. Colt 1911 2nd Battle of the Marne Commemorative Semi Auto Pistol

serial #4764-M2, 45 ACP, 5" barrel with an excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain 99% original blue. The hardwood grips rate near excellent with some light oxidation on the right medallion. The right side of the slide has a banner with "1917 WORLD WAR I COMMEMORATIVE 1967", the right grip has a medallion with a doughboy surrounded by a list of the Allied nations of World War One with the word "THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION". The left side of the slide has a scene with a squad of doughboys getting ready to ambush the Germans, the left panel has an eagle medallion surrounded by "1917 1918" and "WORLD WAR". There is a plaque beneath the left grip medallion that reads "2nd BATTLE of the MARNE", A display case is included that shows two doughboys on the front with the words "The 2nd BATTLE OF THE MARNE 'American Units Advanced 11 Miles in Three Weeks (700/900) SOLD FOR $1,035.00
