serial #577856, 308 Win, 22" featherweight barrel with a bright excellent, likely unfired, bore. The metal surfaces on this beautiful rifle retain 99% plus original blue. There is no discernible wear, the only real loss being some extremely light operational wear on the receiver races, a few very light rubs on the bolt knob, a very light rub on the blued extractor and a tiny abrasion on the right side of the receiver near the serial number which does not breech the blue. The bolt body remains bright and is correctly DC pencil-numbered to the gun with the bolt face showing all its original blue and the feed ramp showing no evidence of having had a cartridge introduced. The checkered walnut pistolgrip Monte Carlo stock rates excellent to as-new with perhaps a couple very tiny handling dings on the right side of the butt. The original sights are intact as are the swivels and plastic checkered buttplate. The rifle appears very much unfired since leaving New Haven in 1963 and comes with what is likely its original hangtags. Both are Winchester Western Division Olin Mathieson Chemical tags, one the typical ovoid Model 70 Featherweight yellow, red and blue hangtag, the other is the manila bolt tag with the model and serial number in pencil; both show a couple of folds but are otherwise very good to excellent. An absolutely super featherweight that would be perfect in a period boxing. (38585-109) {C&R} (1200/1800) SOLD FOR $1,610.00
