serial #61005, 22 RF, 24" octagon barrel with a bright very good plus bore which shows strong rifling but with a few areas of very sparsely scattered very light pitting. The metal surfaces retain about 92-95% original blue. The barrel shows light even fading with wear to pewter on the sharp edges and scattered very light oxidation speckling. The frame and receiver shows numerous light longitudinal scratches, likely where someone took steel wool or some other implement many many years ago in an attempt to clean the very light surface oxidation which had formed there, the Rampant Colt on the left side is still very crisp. A number of the screws and the trigger show some good pale fire temper blue and there is very good color case-hardening on the hammer. The buttstock rates very good to very good plus as very lightly cleaned, now devoid of finish, but showing some very nice grain figure. The checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt buttplate remains in place and there is a capital letter "A" stamped beneath it, likely the grade of wood; the end grain where stock meets frame is numbered "1005". The wood is only very slightly under in a couple of spots and there is a prominent drying crack through the highly figured wood on the right side of the tang upper-to-lower. The walnut forend rates very good plus as well, also showing an old light cleaning years ago with lighter colored sapwood evident towards its front and with very light borderline carving. What appear to be the original open sights are intact and the gun seems to function well. The barrel is marked only "22 Cal." and the cartridge lifter appears long enough that it would handle 22 Longs. A very pleasing-looking small frame lightning rifle overall retaining some nice blue.
