serial #13219, .28 caliber, 3 1/2" octagon barrel with a bright shiny bore that shows some light oxidation or perhaps fine pitting in a couple small areas of the grooves. This is a very minty little Root with all matching numbers. The barrel and frame retain about 93 - 95% bright original blue finish with loss being at one area at left rear of recoil shield and a little at the base of the backstrap where there is some light silvering. The cylinder retains about 25% original blue finish with the balance flaked and with those flaked areas bearing a lovely smooth brown patina. The cylinder shows 95% plus of its crisp cylinder scene. The loading lever and hammer show lots of original color case-hardened finish overall. The one-piece walnut grip rates excellent with 95% plus original varnish remaining. The revolver comes in its original walnut and mahogany casing which is lined in red baize which has faded to a wonderful dull salmon color and includes a brass two-cavity mould, a minty E. Pluribus Unum flask which retains nearly all of its original lacquer, an Eley cap tin and the key to the case. The condition of the case is excellent inside and out. This is a super clean and completely honest cased 1855 Root. Investment quality. (18526-7) {ANTIQUE} (5000/7000) SOLD FOR $5,462.50
