serial #21768, 32 WCF, 24" octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel, magazine tube and nosecap retain about 97% original blue, the loss is due to some light fading, sharp edge wear and a bit of light wear at the muzzle, there are also the small, sparsely scattered handful of handling marks here or there but they are very unobtrusive. The receiver retains a similar amount of original blue, showing perhaps a bit more edge wear with some toning along its upper edges and the beginnings of the oft-seen length-wise Winchester striations. The lever shows some stunning original color case-hardening, nearly all of which remains, toning only in the radiused areas of the lever, with one small area of light pitting. The hammer as well shows some excellent original color case-hardening with strong blue on the trigger and pale blue on the loading gate. The buttplate as well shows strong smoky mottled case-hardening, primarily on its tang, more silvery on the butt portion. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus with much original varnish and the expected near overall very light handling marks from the years. The original silver blade front sight is intact as is the semi-buckhorn Rocky Mountain rear and a nice Lyman No. 1A tang sight is in place at the tang. Really a very nice 1892 overall, manufactured in the 2nd year of production. (38812-6) {ANTIQUE} (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $2,185.00
