.54 cal, 8 1/2" barrel with an oxidized bore. The metal surfaces of the barrel are mostly bright with cleaned old pitting scattered throughout, some small dings and light staining. The "U.S. / JH / P" marking is a little soft but still visible. The lockplate and hammer are a darker smooth gray patina showing some spots of light pitting and crisp markings on the lockplate. The brass furniture has been lightly cleaned and is now a bright goldenrod color with small dings here and there. The walnut stock has similarly been lightly cleaned and remains in about good condition with a repaired chip on the right side above the triggerguard, a thin 3/4" hairline crack behind the lockplate, a small crack at the left side screw, some light staining and handling marks. The tang is dated 1851, the lock 1854, the ramrod assembly is intact and the lock functions well at half and full cock. (138783-53) {ANTIQUE} (500/700) SOLD FOR $431.25
