serial #348346, 22 S, L, LR, 20" barrel with a very good bore showing a few tiny pits and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of the barrel and magazine tube retain about 65% original blue mingling with areas toning to gray-brown patina, light oxidation staining and scattered freckling. The frame and bolt retain about 85% original blue with high edge wear, tangs worn to dark gray patina, light scratches, spots of oxidation staining and freckling. The smooth walnut forend remains in good condition with a thin 3/4" hairline crack at the right escutcheon, thin 1 1/4" hairline crack at left side rear and a couple smaller hairline cracks, dings and handling marks. The straight grip walnut buttstock shows an old professional repair with a brass screw on either side to stabilize a number of large cracks, one about 3 1/4" emanating from the upper tang, 3 1/4" and 1 1/4" thin cracks at the lower tang and some further small dings, tiny chips and handling marks. The original black checkered hard rubber buttplate and sights are intact. The mechanism seems to function well but could use a good cleaning. Still a solid rifle overall with some nice original finish. (138794-24) {C&R} (400/600) SOLD FOR $460.00
