serial #1511001, 30-06, 24" 3-39 dated Springfield Armory star-gauged barrel with a bright excellent bore. The protected portion of the barrel at the front band shows very strong rust blue while the exposed portion ahead of the band has toned more to a gray-pewter. The bands themselves are dark blue-gray parkerized finish with the receiver showing 98% dark gray arsenal parkerizing with the races honed bright. The bolt and extractor remain mostly bright with some moderate operational wear and remnants of the matching bolt number still legible, although light. The bolt shroud and striker show some very good dark oil quenching, with the safety being reversed "National Match" style; the bottom metal retains about 92-95% dark gray phosphate finish. The walnut pistolgrip buttstock and handguard rate very good plus to excellent with a slightly light "SA/SPG" left side inspectors mark but a very good un-serifed circled P firing proof. The stock features the correct drawing number along the toeline, as does the top of the handguard with the buttplate being coarsely checkered. The scale on the rear sight remains bright and there is a nice P.J. O'Hare stamped sheet metal sight cover included, retaining excellent original blue. Included is a very good plus 1 1/4" military rifle sling with steel hardware. A very attractive and correct National Match Model of 1939 rifle with a very lovely bore.
