141. Smith & Wesson 44 Double Action Frontier Revolver

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #8012, 44 S&W Russian, 5" round barrel with a near excellent bore. This revolver shows matching numbers on the frame, barrel and 1 9/16" length cylinder however the barrel latch is numbered "8033" which seems like an assembly error at the factory being only 21 numbers away and matching perfectly in condition. The metal surfaces of revolver show a pleasing smooth even brown patina with generous traces to perhaps 5 or 10% original blue finish blended in throughout. The hammer and trigger still show respectable amounts of mottled original color case hardened finish. The two piece checkered hard rubber grips rate very good plus to near excellent with just a little light wear present. A couple of the frame screws show light slot wear. A nice example of these early double action Smiths. (18737-158) {ANTIQUE} [Dr. Louis C. March Jr. Collection] (1200/1800) SOLD FOR $1,380.00
