serial #M793, 40-60, 28" octagon barrel with full magazine and a near very good bore that shows softening to the rifling. This rifle is in a scarce chambering and features the later full loop lever. The barrel is marked with the "WHITNEYVILLE" one line address and is not marked "KENNEDY" and the caliber "40-60" is marked on top flat just ahead of action. This is a nice honest rifle. The barrel and magazine retain a pleasing even brown patina with traces of original blue in protected areas along the magazine. The action shows perhaps 15% original blue with the balance showing a pleasing brown painta. The right side of the action just to the rear of the forend shows some light dings and there is also some scattered old light surface oxidation present. Most screws show very slight slot wear. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus to near excellent with lots of original finish remaining and with nice raised grain and very few handling marks. The rifle is sighted with a German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight and standard open sporting rear. A very nice and very honest Whitney Kennedy rifle in a desirable chambering.
