serial #1346, 45-70, 28" octagon barrel with full magazine and an about very good bore that shows some light wear to rifling and a little patchy pitting. The barrel shows the typical "G.W. MORSE" marking which reads toward the action, however a second rear sight dovetail has been added through the marking. The barrel and magazine retain an even brown patina overall with all markings remaining clear and legible except as noted above. The action shows a gray patina overall with some scattered patches of light oxidation staining, a little fine pitting and an old scratch or two. The dust cover shows some thinning original blue with the balance being a brown patina. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good with the butt showing some nice figure. The toe of the buttplate is a little proud of the wood as is the action to the forend. The wood has a nice appearance and shows just normal scattered handling marks. The rifle is sighted with a German silver blade front and an added flattop rear sporting sight. (18315-9LTS41) {ANTIQUE} [Lewis T. Steadman Collection] (1500/2500) SOLD FOR $1,725.00
