serial #147285, 33 WCF, 24" lightweight barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and magazine tube retaining about 95-97% original blue, the loss due primarily to some even fading, light muzzle wear and very sparsely scattered light oxidation. The nosecap has toned to a plum with the receiver a near even mix of a plum patina and fading original blue, primarily on the flats. There is some very sparsely scattered oxidation present and the beginnings of the oft-seen Winchester striations. The lever shows some remnants of color case-hardening, primarily a mottled smoky patina, the hammer is similar, as-is the buttplate. The straight grip buttstock and forend rate very good with much original varnish and the expected overall dings and handling marks from a field-used arm. There is a Lyman No. 4 ivory hunting sight in place on the front ramp and a Winchester 22C rear sight in the rear dovetail. The arm seems to function well mechanically and no doubt would perform very well afield. (38737-527) {C&R} [Dr. Louis C. March Jr. Collection] (1500/2000) SOLD FOR $1,265.00
