serial #950545, 12 ga., 21" plain barrel bored cylinder with a bright about excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 95% original blue, showing light operational wear and some toning to plum on the magazine tube, with high edge wear and handling marks along the front surfaces of the bayonet lug adapter and 6-row ventilated forend. The receiver as well shows some minor handling marks but has a very good "U.S." and flaming bomb stamping on the left side of the receiver, with an ordnance bomb stamped above the chamber of the barrel as well. The smooth walnut pistolgrip buttstock and grooved forend rate very good with the expected minor dings and handling marks, more prominent on the butt, with a crisp ""GHD" and ordnance wheel marking at the left center of the buttstock. The sling swivels remain intact, handguard/lug assembly is tight and the gun seems to function well mechanically. A green web military sling is included. This is a very fine Second World War-era Model 1897 Trench Gun. (38809-62) {C&R} (6000/8000) SOLD FOR $7,475.00
