serial #854, .56 cal, 15" round barrel with a good bore which shows strong evident rifling but with pitting its full-length. The metal surfaces are a dull gunmetal gray with overall light pitting, a few spots which may be more moderate. The barrel shows numerous tool marks from a light cleaning, they are less prevalent elsewhere. The walnut buttstock rates about very good as neatly repaired and refinished quite some time ago, showing minor dings and handling marks with repaired dowels visible left and right, but neatly camouflaged. The arm functions mechanically and the frame, lower tang, arbor and the cylinder are all numbered alike. The patent marking on left of frame is mostly legible, the manufacturers marking atop the topstrap is not, the patent marking on the cylinder is light . The arm exhibits British proofs, the rear sight leafs are no longer present, the hammer screw is missing, the sling swivels are intact and the lower tang shows an old repair to a crack midway through its length. While a little salty, this is certainly a very attractive and very cool short-length Colt revolving carbine. (38802-8) {ANTIQUE} (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,530.00
