227. Whitney Kennedy Large Caliber Lever Action Rifle

serial #R728, 40-60, 28" octagon barrel with full magazine and a good bore that shows rifling and pitting its entire length. This rifle is in a scarce chambering features the full loop lever and two line "Whitney Kennedy" address. The barrel and magazine show an even brown patina overall with all markings remaining clear and legible and with top surface showing old, light dings a few inches back from the front sight. The action shows an even brown patina with some light impact marks and some light pitting mostly on front of action. Most screw slots show minor slot damage. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate good plus to very good showing an old light refinish with wood being a little dry. The forend has notable chips at front of forend either side, the right side is 1 3/4" x 1/4" which is the larger of the two chips. The rifle is sighted with a German silver blade Rocky Mountain front and standard open sporting rear sights.
