serial #M1390, 50 RF, 35 1/2" round barrel with a near excellent bright bore. This rifle has matching numbers on the breechblock and frame tang and also shows proper patent markings on the rear of the breechblock. The lock is properly marked with "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" and Federal eagle ahead of hammer and is dated 1864 to rear of hammer. The barrel shows an even gray patina overall with just a little scattered light patchy pitting. The breechblock and hammer are dark, and under light appears as a rich brown, but there may have been some cold blue applied at some point over the years. The lockplate is a pleasing even brown patina overall and all markings in the metal remain crisp and legible. The walnut stock rates excellent with over 90% of its original finish remaining and shows nice clean edges with a good clean cartouche. A very nice example of these Springfield manufactured breechloaders. (18752-12) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2500) SOLD FOR $2,530.00
