serial #4012, 44-40, 25 1/2" octagon barrel with full magazine and a very good bore. This is a very nice rifle. The barrel and magazine retain a pleasing even brown patina with faint traces of original blue in protected areas. There are a few normal little nicks in some of the barrel edges. The action shows about 40% original blue finish which shows light even flaking and with those flaked areas showing a pleasing smooth brown patina. There are a couple dings in the edges of ejection port on top of frame and the Rampant Colt on left side of action is crisp. The plain walnut buttstock rates excellent with about 90% original finish remaining. The forend shows aN older well-done repair on the right side where there was a large crack or chip where the forend is thin in the area of the loading gate spring. There is a 4 3/4" x 5/8" piece of wood spliced-in which matches beautifully in color. The rifle is sighted with a German silver blade Rocky Mountain front and standard open sporting rear sights. A very nice example of these desirable Colt lever guns. (18737-329) {ANTIQUE} [Dr. Louis C. March Jr. Collection] (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $3,450.00
