serial #43627, 243 Win, 20" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barreled action on this 1964-proofed carbine retains about 99% original blue, the bolt body and butterknife style handle remaining brilliant with all their factory polish, the races of the action honed bright. The floorplate has been engraved and silver inlaid with a depiction of an Alaskan grizzly bear with a salmon atop a rock, with a mountainous background, bordered by fine gold wire, the bear and the fish inlaid and chiseled in silver. The triggerguard shows light neat engraving with the initials "RAP" inlaid in gold, this flanked by light floral engraving inlaid in silver. The full-length Mannlicher-style stock rates very good to excellent as neatly refinished showing a generous coating of varnish. The Monte Carlo style stock has a flared shadowline cheekpiece and the checkered panels at grip and wraparound pattern in forend have been accented with very nice quality oak leaf and acorn carving with stippled background, the quality of the work actually quite nice, the stock itself showing fiddle back figure nearly its full-length. The original sling swivels are intact as is the gripcap. The arm is equipped with double set triggers and in addition to the manual safety on the bolt there is a tang safety just ahead of the point of comb. The rifle is sighted with a German silver bead style front sight, and two leaf rear, one standing one folding, and a Lyman No. 36 receiver sight mounted to the boltstop. Additionally the receiver has been professionally drilled and tapped for a Kuharski Brothers Bausch & Lomb style quick detachable base and ring set which mounts a Redfield 4X telescopic sight with duplex reticle and bright excellent optics. These are fabulous rifles in their own right, this one all the more desirable with the engraving and nice quality carving, a handy light recoiling carbine-length rifle for the November woods.
