334. Rare Early Ruger No. 1 Varminter Falling Block Rifle

serial #6977, 25-06, 24" heavy barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains 98% original blue, loss due to light silvering around the front two mounting holes from target block removal. The action retains 97-98% original blue with some very thin superficial vertical scratches in the sides of the receiver and light contact wear on the lever release, the hand-fitted breechblock is numbered to the gun. The checkered pistolgrip buttstock and semi-beavertail forearm rate near excellent having a rich reddish-brown color, clean crisp points and only light handling marks and blemishes. The buttstock and forearm are unnumbered, the forearm hanger is marked "BH". The rifle is equipped with target blocks and includes a set of factory rings. A nice 1969 four digit Varminter manufactured in limited numbers in only 1V and BB configurations. A seldom encountered rifle which would compliment a No. 1 collection nicely.
