serial #B9218, 30-30, 24" barrel with a bright excellent, likely unfired, bore. This is a lovely rifle. The barrel and magazine tube retaining 98-99% original blue, showing some minor fading and some very sparsely scattered light handling marks. The receiver and bolt retain 99% incredibly vivid color case-hardening, the lever a similar amount which is starting to tone only slightly, still exhibiting some very nice colors. Hammer, trigger, loading gate and all screws show excellent original blue as well. The checkered walnut pistolgrip buttstock and semi-beavertail-style forend rate excellent with all their original varnish and only very minor handling marks here or there. The Marlin bull's-eye is intact and what appear to be factory quick detachable sling swivels are installed on stamped steel bases. The original silver bead front sight is intact, there is no hood present, and the original rear sight with step elevator is present. The face of the bolt still shows all its original color case-hardening and the gun very much appears unfired and unused since leaving New Haven. The right lower sharp edge of the receiver where the triggerplate fits shows some minor chipping to the sharp edge, it appears to have been there since day one and it is unobtrusive, actually missed at first glance. The tang is marked "Marlin/Model 1936". A superb example, almost never encountered in this fine a state of condition. (38785-3) {C&R} (1400/1800) SOLD FOR $1,610.00
