serial #346955, 30-40 Krag, 22" barrel with a very good bore that shows scattered frosting and light pitting but strong rifling. The barrel and front band are a dull brown patina with some scattered light oxidation staining and traces of original blue. The receiver and sideplate are a silvery gray patina with some light oxidation staining and traces of the original quenched oil finish. The extractor retains generous traces of its original fire blue with scattered flaking to brown. The magazine box retains strong traces of its original oil quenching with some oxidation spots and fading, while the triggerguard retains much of its original blue with scattered flaking to brown. The walnut stock rates very good plus with a partially faded 1901 inspector's cartouche, a partially faded circled "P" firing proof, a few minor dings and handling marks. The carbine is equipped with a 1901 carbine rear sight, 1901 carbine handguard and a headless cocking piece. A very good example of these late model Krag carbines.
