serial #1496, 44-40, 25 1/2" round barrel with full magazine and a very good bore that shows deep rifling along with some scattered old oxidation. The metal surfaces of this rifle retain 97% old nicely restored blue finish. The barrel markings and Rampant Colt on left side of action remain strong and fully visible. The color is slightly more dull than original Colt blue as the polish was not as fine as the factory polish. The loading gate shows a good deal of period straw color and screw slots remain quite nice. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate near excellent with a good deal of original finish and nice rich dark color. The stocks show some very light handling marks but they fit beautifully and show just one small crack at the end of the top tang that is very minor, sound and needs no attention. The rifle is sighted with a Marbles No. 3 beaded blade front sight and a Marbles folding leaf open sporting rear sight. This is a very attractive rifle that was beautifully restored long ago. (18315-28LTS69) {ANTIQUE} [Lewis T. Steadman Collection] (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $3,450.00
