49. Winchester Model 1895 Lee Navy Bolt Action Rifle

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #19559, 6mm Lee Navy, 28" barrel with a near excellent bore that shows a couple tiny spots of frosting. The metal surfaces of this second contract rifle retain 90% original blue finish with a couple minor dings on the bottom of the magazine box, some further light dings on bolt and receiver, a few light freckling spots and scattered flaking to brown. The walnut stock rates very good with an older added varnish, a 2" abrasion on the right side above magazine, some light chipping at the toe, scattered dings and handling marks. The receiver is marked with the initials "J.N.J" for the Navy inspector Lt. John N. Jordan. A very fine example of these hard-to-find U.S. military rifles. (208737-353) {C&R} [Dr. Louis C. March Jr. Collection] (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,645.00
