serial #259359, 45 ACP, 5" Colt barrel with a bright otherwise excellent bore which shows a tiny amount of pinprick pitting nearer the muzzle. The metal surfaces on this attractive pistol retain about 95-97% original blue, the loss due to some backstrap toning to plum, a bit of wear on the frontstrap and some light flaking on the left radius and front of slide. The double diamond checkered walnut grips rate very good plus to excellent, the right grip showing a few very minor handling marks and light wear at its butt edge. The arm comes with a single folded-base lanyard loop Springfield Armory magazine which rates perhaps very good showing remnants of some light pitting and an old refinish. The barrel features both "H" and "P" inspectors markings above the hood, correct for this serial number range gun. This pistol shipped to the Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory in March 1918 with 3899 other Colt pistols. Really a very stellar example overall in a very fine state of condition. (38817-16) {C&R} (2500/4500) SOLD FOR $3,105.00
