serial #6914260, 30 Carbine, 18" Inland Division 2-45 dated barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 92-95% later arsenal grade gray-green parkerizing, showing light wear on the high edges and contact points and fading ahead of the barrel band, also with some minor handling marks or light scratches here and there. The walnut stock and pistolgrip rate very good to very good plus with much original varnish and the expected light handling marks and dings from the years. The pistolgrip showing a very good ordnance wheel cartouche near "IO" marking on its bottom with a pronounced circled P firing proof on the rear of the stock proper. The stock assembly appears correct in every respect including the leather cheekpiece piece with "7/4" rivets, showing light flaking or scuffing along its top and bottom surfaces. The cast metal buttplate has the appropriate sunken part number and mold markings and is coarsely checkered. The interior of the stock shows where it was inletted for an M2 selector switch and clearance for the right-side disconnector lever. All of the component parts appear to be appropriate Inland or Inland sub-contractor marked with the exception of the "AOB" slide which was an IBM contractor. The blued detachable 15 round "AI" marked box magazine rates very good with light wear. Carbine features post-war bayonet lug barrel band, pivoting style safety and has an Inland adjustable sight. Overall a very nice and very correct M1A1 paratrooper carbine which doubtless saw service post-World War II. (38809-214) {C&R} (2500/4000) SOLD FOR $2,530.00
