serial #19257, 45-70, 32" barrel with a good bore showing frosting, light to moderate oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this rifle retain about 90% older reapplied blue thinning to gray and silver along the frame, barrel bands and nosecap along with some spots of old pinprick pitting underneath the finish, freckling, small dings and light oxidation staining scattered about. Many of the screw heads show some moderate slot damage, one rather heavily damaged on the right side frame and the markings have softened throughout but are still quite clear overall especially the "Old Reliable" on the barrel. The straight grip walnut buttstock and forend remain in good overall condition showing a number of small hairline cracks at the upper tang and right frame junction, two 1 3/4" cracks and one 1" crack at the toe, some further scratches, dings, tiny chips and handling marks. The original sights, cleaning rod and sling swivels are all intact and the rifle seems to function well mechanically.
