570. Colt Model 1849 London Pocket Revolver

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #7817, .31 cal., 6" octagon barrel with a good bore that is dark but shows decent rifling. This revolver shows all matching numbers including the wedge. The barrel bears a rich brown patina overall with some scattered patches of light surface oxidation along with some faint traces of original blue. The revolver shows all proper markings and proofs and all markings in metal surfaces remain clear and legible. The cylinder shows over 95% of its scene and the surface matches the color of the barrel very closely. The frame shows a good deal of faded original color case hardened finish blending with a gray patina and showing some scattered light oxidation staining. The iron gripstraps retain a rich dark patina with a little old scattered light oxidation staining. The one-piece walnut grip rates about excellent with most of its original varnish remaining and with just a few very light handling marks. A nice little London pocket. (18737-44) {ANTIQUE} [Dr. Louis C. March Jr. Collection] (800/1200) SOLD FOR $977.50
