serial #978200, 45 ACP, 5" High Standard barrel with a frosted bore. This 1943 made pistol has a Colt replacement slide that is numbered "834895" under the firing pin stop dating it 1942 production. The metal surfaces retain about 45-50% original Parkerized finish with most of the loss to the frame. The grip frame has worn to pewter with the remainder toning to brown with edge wear and the slide has high edge wear, a few oxidation blemishes, thinning finish toward the muzzle leaving a mottled mix of smoky gray and Parkerizing. The checkered synthetic Keyes Fibre grips with reinforcing rings rate excellent. Colonel Frank J. Atwood's inspection mark is very strong as are the proofs. All parts on the frame and slide are correct for the era of manufacture but the recoil spring plug is a commercial replacement. The pistol includes a single Scovill Mfg. Co. magazine with welded base. A nice 1911A1 that may have been arsenal rebuilt before seeing more service. (88831-15) {C&R} (700/900) SOLD FOR $1,150.00
