serial #380, 12 ga., 28" damascus twist barrels choked improved cylinder with near excellent, lightly frosted bores and dual ivory bed sights along the solid rib. The barrels show a rich damascus pattern that is toning to brown and has areas of light to minor oxidation. The frame and remaining metal surfaces are expertly engraved with the sideplates showing bird dog hunting scenes, the remainder having light foliate and border pattern designs. The triggerguard has the initials "RAB" in calligraphy print. There are some light dings and tool marks throughout and some of the screws have minor slot damage. The checkered walnut stocks rate about very good and have small dings, light handling marks, a few tiny chips and hairline cracks throughout. The splinter forend is missing its inlay at the tip, the pistolgrip buttstock has a hard rubber grip cap and buttplate with spacer, the buttplate has a large chip at the toe. The action locks-up tight and the mechanisms appear to function correctly. An about very good example overall that is a fine example of these early high grade American made doubles.
