.69 cal., 42 1/4" barrel with an oxidized bore. This musket shows the standard lock marking of "U.S. / (starburst) / N. STARR" ahead of cock and "MIDLN / CONN / 1830" vertically to rear of cock. The barrel is marked with inspectors marks "US / AH / P (in sunken starburst)" and is dated 1830 on the tang. This is a nice honest musket with nice surfaces and with all markings remaining clear and legible. The barrel shows a pleasing light gray patina with some scattered light pitting and oxidation staining scattered about. The lock is slightly darker and also shows some scattered light salt & pepper pitting. The musket comes with sling swivels mounted in front bow of triggerguard and on center band and a trumpet shaped iron ramrod is present. The walnut stock rates very good plus with well-defined edges and an excellent "AH" cartouche on left stock flat. This is a completely honest musket just having had its metal surfaces lightly cleaned and maintaining a lovely appearance. (18752-86) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2500) SOLD FOR $1,380.00
