73. Whitney Kennedy Small Caliber Lever Action Rifle

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #I530, 44-40, 28" octagon barrel with full magazine and a very good plus bore. This rifle features factory double set triggers and a full loop lever. The barrel shows a single line "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY" address which remains clear and legible as does the "44 CAL." caliber marking. The barrel and magazine retain a rich brown patina with a little light old surface oxidation present. The action has been lightly cleaned and is a light gray color overall with some scattered oxidation staining present. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate about good plus with nice surfaces and a crack from the center of the butt, along the grain at the cleaning rod hole, almost to the lower tang; it seems quite sound. The forend shows sone light handling marks and one deeper scratch and perhaps a repaired crack. The rifle is sighted with a German silver blade Rocky Mountain front and altered original open sporting rear sight - the barrel is not altered. Overall this rifle is better than it sounds and features factory double set triggers which are quite rare. (18315-110LTS304) {ANTIQUE} [Lewis T. Steadman Collection] (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,645.00
