806. U.S. Model 1917 Revolver by Smith & Wesson

serial #85695, 45 ACP / AR, 5 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This July 1918 made revolver retains about 93-95% arsenal grade re-applied Parkerized finish with the grip frame toning to brown, a few scattered oxidation blemishes, edge wear, turn ring and handling marks. The standard trigger and hammer retain beautiful case-hardened colors with light to moderate handling and operational wear, the lanyard having toned to gray with minor oxidation. The smooth walnut factory grips are numbered to the gun and rate about good with scattered light dents, dings and scratches. All appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun and there is a matching rework numbers on the cylinder and frame plus timing and lock up are good. The ordnance bomb on the frame and the various "[eagle] / S1, S22 & S24" inspection marks remain strong. A great number of these guns were reworked at various arsenals and the factory over the years and no collection would be complete without a few representative samples.
