.69 cal, 42" barrel with an oxidized bore. The metal surfaces are an overall soft brown patina with pewter underlying base metal, showing scattered oxidation and light pitting but with the firing proofs still visible. The lock is appropriately marked and dated 1849 and will hold on cock, but not the half-cock rest. The stock rates very good as lightly cleaned many years ago, the edges somewhat softened but with the remnants of a light left side cartouche. There are a few minor drying cracks here and there and a bit of oxidation staining leaching in at the rear of the tang and rear of lockplate. The swivels are present as is a trumpet-shaped ramrod. (38783-28) {ANTIQUE} (600/800) SOLD FOR $690.00
