Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #34160, 303 Savage, 26" barrel with a very good bore showing some light frosting and a few pinprick pits throughout. The barrel of this rifle retains about 90% older reapplied blue toning to smooth gray throughout along with areas thinning to pewter and small patches of old pinprick pitting under the newer finish. The action and lever retain about 20% older reapplied blue that has mostly worn to smooth gray with some high edge wear, freckling and some light pitting underneath the newer finish. Interestingly, this example has an 1899-A action and serial number but the barrel is from a Model 1895. The straight grip walnut stock and schnabel forend remain in very good condition as refinished with a heavy coat of varnish showing just a few small dings, a tiny repaired chip at the toe and handling marks. The gun is sighted with original semi-buckhorn rear leaf sight, silver blade front sight and a tang-mounted Lyman peep sight. A rather interesting refinished example that may prove to be a good shooter. (138476-72) {C&R} (400/600) SOLD FOR $431.25
