serial #306192, 300 Savage, 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This 1928-made rifle appears to have originally been a model 99-E with newer-style stocks consistent with a 99-EG added later. The barrel was also replaced and has the Chicopee Falls address in use from 1946-1960 in addition to the frame having been professionally refinished. It is quite possible this gun was sent back to the factory in the late 50s or early 60s for an overhaul. The barrel retains about 96% factory blue with some silvering at the muzzle, a couple pinprick pits and light freckling scattered about. The frame retains about 85% factory-quality reapplied blue with moderate high edge wear, light oxidation staining, freckling and the model designation no longer present. The bolt is still mostly bright and the lever retains some faint case-hardened colors quite vibrant in the more protected areas with overall toning to silvery patina along with freckling and light oxidation staining. The checkered walnut schnabel forend and pistolgrip buttstock remain in very good condition showing areas of worn checkering and smoothing of the points, small dings, scratches and handling marks. The buttstock is not quite fitted to the frame perfectly but is secure, there are sling swivel studs present and the rifle is sighted with Marble's semi-buckhorn rear and ivory bead front sights. This rifle has plenty of life left in it and will probably make for a fine shooter. (138803-42) {C&R} (400/600) SOLD FOR $546.25
