1057. Winchester Model 54 Pre-War Bolt Action Rifle

serial #2184, 270 WCF, 24" barrel with a bright near excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this early rifle retain about 95% older reapplied blue showing some small areas thinning throughout, overall toning to plum under bright light and areas of light pinprick pitting underneath the finish scattered about. The Winchester proof on the receiver oddly appears to have been double-struck. The checkered pistolgrip walnut stock remains in very good plus condition showing an added coat of heavy varnish now crazing throughout, a small crack at the lower tang, a small chip forming at the floorplate and still rather crisp checkering. The stock is fitted with sling swivel studs and the rifle is sighted with its original dual flip-up rear leaf and gold bead front that shows some moderate dings. This refinished rifle will probably still be fine shooter. (138865-47) {C&R} (400/600) SOLD FOR $488.75
