serial #18721, 22 RF, 2 1/4" barrel with an about good bore showing a few spots of moderate oxidation, bright areas and strong rifling. This lovely little revolver features fine period embellishment with wonderful foliate scrollwork and punch-dot shading on the frame and barrel, foliate flourishes on the cylinder flats and geometric patterns along the top of the gun and sideplate. The barrel is mostly a light gray patina showing some light freckling, a few pinprick pits, flakes of nickel plate and remnants of the "COLT NEW 22" etching on the left side. The base pin knurling shows moderate tool marks and the frame retains about 90% original nickel finish showing some high edge wear to ocher on brass, a couple scattered flaked, scratches and minor areas of clouding. The screw heads, sides of the trigger and back of the hammer retain some bright remnants of nice fire blue with overall toning to gray patina. The cylinder retains a healthy amount of thinning gold plate mingling with flaked areas that show dark brown patina and light pitting. The un-numbered smooth mother-of-pearl grips remain in very good plus to near excellent condition showing a couple tiny chips around the edges, a few dings and minor discoloration. The barrel and cylinder are matching the frame and the mechanism functions very well with excellent timing and lockup. Really a very fine revolver overall for the Colt collector.
