serial #114852, .41 Colt, 5? barrel with a bright about excellent bore which shows strong rifling but with a couple of sparsely scattered light spots of pitting. The barrel and ejector rod housing have toned primarily to a pewter gray patina with some areas a plum brown, with light oxidation staining and a few spots of light pinprick pitting with blue only in the protected areas. The cylinder is similar with blue only in the flutes, the balance a pewter and plum with light rotational marks. The frame is a mottled smoky gray and darker gray case-hardened patina with some generous trace colors and good markings, the strap and triggerguard have faded primarily to a plum brown. The screws betray some faint remnants of their pale fire temper as does the trigger. The checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt grips rate very good plus to near excellent, they are un-numbered but fit perfectly. The gun seems to time well single action, double action it over-rotates. A very fine example overall of these sought-after big bore Colt 1877 Model revolvers, manufactured in 1899 (38864-13) {C&R} (1000/1500) SOLD FOR $862.50
