Click on images for enlarged versions.

.58 cal., 40" barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. The lockplate is properly marked with Federal eagle and "U.S. / NORFOLK" ahead of hammer and is dated 1863 to the rear of hammer. The barrel shows proper "V /P / (eaglehead)" inspector's markings and is also dated 1863. The metal surfaces of this musket have mellowed slightly from an old light cleaning with the barrel showing a few tiny impact marks and remnants of fine oxidation staining behind the rear sight, the lock having brush marks from a little more active cleaning. All markings remain clear and legible with only light wear to the Federal eagle. The walnut stock rates very good with slightly rounded edges, faint traces of cartouche and contractor markings and some tiny dents and handling marks in a little added finish. The gun features standard original sights and an iron tulip shaped ramrod is included. (58752-60) {ANTIQUE} (800/1200) SOLD FOR $1,150.00
